The acquisition of Romano’s Macaroni Grill is complete. Ignite Restaurant Group said today in a statement that it has finalized the purchase from Golden Gate Capital for approximately $55M. Along with the completed purchase, 25-year foodservice veteran David Catalono has been tapped to lead the brand as its president. The purchase includes 186 company-owned restaurants. Ignite also gains five franchised units within the United States and 19 additional units outside the United States and in U.S. territories.

West Virginia will see three new stores between now and the end of 2018 thanks to a new multi-unit agreement with franchise group Little General. Little General has big experience in foodservice. The group operates more than 60 QSRs (Quick-Serve Restaurants) across West Virginia and 80 gas and convenience outlets. Charleston and Huntington, West Virginia remain open for franchising
Newk’s Café will now go by “Newk’s Eatery,” reflecting its fast casual brand promise to customers. It also named Alan Wright VP of Marketing.Wright is a thirty-year foodservice veteran, said the Jackson, Miss.-based chain, most recently serving as VP of Franchising and VP of Administration at The Krystal Company, famous for its mini-burgers. Newk’s Eatery serves sandwiches, salads, soups and California-style pizzas. Homestyle cakes are baked by its own Newk’s Bakery Company.

Portland,Maine-based Diversified Business Communications announced it will unveil the winner in an awards ceremony April 23 at the 2013 European Seafood Exposition.
