DDIFO progresses with management transition as Executive Director Shanahan assumes leadership
The Dunkin' Donuts Independent Franchise Owners (DDIFO) group said Executive Director Edwin Shanahan has assumed full leadership of the DDIFO. Shanahan was named to his directorship role effective July 30, as the DDIFO transitioned the leadership of the group from President and COO Jim Coen. According to the DDIFO website, Coen's contract expires November 30. A spokesperson for the group tells Quick Serve Leader magazine that he will assist Shanahan in the transition until Coen's contract expiration.
Shanahan came onto the DDIFO scene with extensive government relationship, membership building and member advocacy expertise. He was formerly with the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and helped grow the membership-based association to 7,000 members.
At the DDIFO, he has spent a considerable amount of time touring and visiting with the membership. He also participated in the recent DDIFO National Members Meeting.
Coen will depart at the end of November after four years with the largest Dunkin' Donuts franchise owners group. Shanahan's leadership is seen as critical in the next stage of growth for the DDIFO as Dunkin' Donuts continues its aggressive expansion efforts domestically and abroad.
